Overview:

The Eagles and Governors face off for the second time this season, after FGCU defeated Austin Peay 54-42, back on February 18th, from Alico Arena. The Austin Peay defense kept FGCU in check offensively, and held the Eagles to 18% (5/26) from beyond the arc. If Austin Peay is to beat FGCU, holding the three point shooting to a clip like the previous game, would serve the Governors well. Expect Coach Smesko to game plan well for Austin Peay, and give new looks both offensively and defensively.

#4 seed Austin Peay is led offensively by Shamarre Hale, who is averaging 12.2 ppg. She was named ASUN Unanimous Sixth Player of the Year after her strong season. Yamia Johnson (10.8 ppg) and Mariah Adams (10.3 ppg), both have had outstanding seasons also, and FGCU can’t lose track of them in gameplanning for Hale.

#1 seed FGCU is led offensively by TK Morehouse, who is averaging 15.9 ppg. She was named ASUN Conference Player of the Year, and to the ASUN 1st Team All-Conference team, for her incredible season. Sha Carter (13.9 ppg) and Alyza Winston (12.9 ppg) have been consistent offensively all year for the Eagles, and can also lead the team in scoring, in any game. We expect to see a higher offensive output for the Eagles in this game, and even though during conference tournaments, the games tend to be close, FGCU will make a statement vs Austin Peay.
