Stephane Manzi 7 pts

Kobbie Perez 7 pts

Outstanding Players (FGCU):

Victor Rosa 20 pts (Career high)

Cyrus Largie 11 pts

Austin Ritchie 11 pts

Overview:

The Eagles struggled out of the gate vs the Conquistadors, but found their groove en route to a nice season opening win. The Eagles were without transfers Matt Halvorsen, Tavian Dunn-Martin, and Kevin Samuel for the game, so expect even more offensively from this team when everyone is healthy.

Victor Rosa had a career high 20 points and this breakout game could earn more minutes and confidence for the Sophomore. Cyrus Largie and Austin Richie both had 11 points for FGCU also in the game. Ritchie played 25 minutes with Samuel out, and looked really good in his time in the game, giving the Eagles another solid player in the post. Andre Weir also showed some promise, and played well grabbing a team high 10 rebounds. When the Eagles play NAIA or NCAA D2 teams, you hope to see the whole team get minutes, and see a perspective of what we have for now, and for the future, and we were able to see that Tuesday night.

What’s Next:

FGCU heads to Chicago, Illinois to face Loyola University (1- 0), Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. Loyola beat Coppin State 103-45 Tuesday.
