ASUN WBB PREDICTIONS 1-3

1. Liberty

The Flames head into this upcoming season with the loss of leading scorer 6’1 F/C Keyen Green (13.9 ppg) who transferred to the University of Tennessee and 5’9 G Asia Todd (8.6 ppg) who transferred to UCF, after leaving Liberty due to the school’s handling of racial issues.

Liberty returns 5’11 R-SR G/F Emily Lytle (11.6 ppg) and 5’6 SR G Ashytn Baker (11.2 ppg) in their back court, looking to build off last year’s 20-11 finish, and ASUN Championship game berth which sadly was cancelled due to COVID-19. 6’2 R-SR foward Bridgette Rettstatt returns and will be paired with 6’3 JR F/C Mya Berkman giving Liberty a huge height advantage in the post. The Flames will face Virginia Tech, Ohio, and Memphis as part of their Non-Conference schedule.

2. UNF

Leading scorer 6’4 R-SR Jazz Bond (13.6 ppg) returns for the Ospreys but the team did lose Janesha Green (13.3 ppg) and Adrienne Jackson (10.8 ppg) to graduation.

UNF finished their season 16-15 and lost to #1 FGCU, 73-57, in the ASUN Championship Semifinal.

3. UNA

The Lions finished 21-9 last season in their 2nd year of NCAA D1 basketball. UNA was led by sister Senior guards Ivy Wallen (15.5 ppg), Emma Wallen (12.2 ppg) and Senior forward Brittany Panetti (10.9 ppg).Coach Melissa “Missy” Tiber, returns 6’1 Senior forward Olivia Noah (9.1 ppg) as the leading scorer and she will be paired with 5’8 Sophomore guard Jaida Bond (8.6 ppg). The Lions did not have any problems scoring last season (78.1 ppg) so even though they lost their top three leading scorers from last season, they seem ready to reload for year 3 of NCAA D1 basketball. UNA will face Missouri and West Virginia on the road and play in a Christmas tournament in Las Vegas which includes Mercer and other teams.
