Fort Myers, FL- The FGCU Women’s Basketball team (13-2) dominated Duke University (7-5) en route to a 78-56 win Sunday afternoon at Alico Arena. It was an electric atmosphere and the crowd was treated to another huge win over another Power 5 conference team.
Recap:
FGCU was led by Davion Wingate who finished with 30 points and Nasrin Ulel wasn’t far behind scoring 27 points. The duo combined for more points than the whole Duke team (57 points). Davion went off for FGCU in the 2nd half, while Nasrin carried the team in the 1st half. Duke was led by Haley Gorecki who had a double double finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Stats:
FGCU shot 46% from the field (26/56), 36.7% from the 3 point line (11/30), and were outrebounded by Duke 41-28. The height in the post by the Blue Devils led to the Eagles only grabbing 3 offensive rebounds. FGCU finished with 15 team turnovers.
FGCU on the defensive side of the ball forced 23 turnovers and had 7 steals.
