Overview:

#19 FGCU and UNA square off for a three game series this weekend in Florence. The Lions are in the midst of a seven game losing streak, and struggling offensively. Head Coach Jad Prachniak is in his first season leading UNA. The Lions are led offensively by Jonathan Lane, who is batting .288 with 10 RBI’s on the season. UNA is 0-3 in ASUN Conference play, after getting swept by UCA on the road last weekend. 6’6 LHP Jacob James is 1-0, with a 3.41 ERA, and has struck out 36, while walking only 11 hitters in five starts this season for the Lions, and is their best starting pitcher. James struck out 12 Sugar Bears in a no-decision last Saturday, and was electric for the Lions, so expect to see him this weekend.

#19 FGCU is led offensively by Alejandro Figueredo, who is batting .411 with 8 HR, and 28 RBI’s this season. The Eagles are 2-1 in ASUN Conference play after winning their first conference series of the season at home against Liberty University. #19 FGCU has outscored UNA 184-89 this season, so it will be interesting to see if UNA can keep up with the hot offense of the Eagles. Their are no holes in this lineup, so it should be another great weekend of baseball for the #19 team in the country in ASUN Conference play.

FIU scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st against FGCU starter Jackson Woodward, but that’s the closest they would get in the game, as the Eagles continued to add on runs vs FIU. It was another dominant effort for the Eagles as they look to continue to move up in the national rankings.
