Overview:

The Eagles and Owls square off in the final ASUN Conference series of the season, starting Thursday, from Swanson Stadium. FGCU has a chance to win the conference as long as they win more games than Lipscomb does this weekend vs Jacksonville State. A sweep of KSU would get the job done, but that can be easier said than done.

The Owls are led offensively in batting average, home runs, and RBI’s by Spencer Hanson, who is hitting .331, with 12 home runs, and 47 RBI’s this season. The Owls have struggled in ASUN Conference play this season, with a 12-15 record overall. Head Coach Ryan Coe is in his second season at KSU. The Owls won the ASUN Conference tournament last season, in his first season as Head Coach.

FGCU continues to be led offensively in batting average, home runs, and RBI’s by Edrick Felix, who is batting .380, with 23 home runs, and 71 RBI’s. The Eagles this year have driven in 483 RBI’s, while the Owls have driven in only 303, and outslugged KSU, hitting 122 home runs, compared to only 57 home runs for KSU. This series is huge for seeding for the Eagles, and a series win would be a huge step, as the ASUN Conference heads to Deland for the conference tournament next week, from Melching Field at Conrad Park.
