Overview:

FGCU wasn’t able to win their final road series in conference play this weekend, as UNF combined to outscore the Eagles 20-8 in the first two games of the series.

In the first game of the series, Peter Holden (4-4) was masterful, allowing only one earned run in 6 innings pitched, while striking out 5 Eagles, and walking two. Austin Brinling and Jakob Runnels led the Ospreys offensively, with each player finishing with a home run and 3 RBI’s. Edrick Felix had the lone RBI for FGCU, finishing with a home run.

In the middle game of the series, the Eagles scored first in the top of the 1st, with Edrick Felix, coming through with a sacrifice fly that scored Brian Ellis. The Ospreys countered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Alex Lodise. UNF would build an 8 run lead (9-1), before two Jacob Lojewski home runs, including a grand slam, and the Eagles had to settle for an 11-7 loss, their second loss in as many days for UNF.

The Eagles salvaged the final game of the series as Edrick Felix unloaded a grand slam, while Harrison Povey, and Alejandro Rodriguez also hit home runs in the game for FGCU. Alejandro Valiente (4-4) earned the win in relief, allowing an earned run in 1.2 innings pitched. Clayton Boroski (2-9) took the loss for the Ospreys, allowing 4 earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched.

What’s Next:

FGCU (37-14) faces FAU (30-22) Tuesday night at 6:30 PM, from FAU Baseball Stadium in Boca Raton.
