Overview:
Every game this season between the Eagles and Owls has had a flare for the dramatic, and Tuesday’s game from Swanson Stadium did not disappoint. Brian Ellis drove in Trevor Kole with an RBI single (6-4), Edrick Felix drove in Ellis with an RBI single (6-5), and a Joe Kinker double tied the game up at 6. Alejandro Figueredo‘s RBI ground out gave the Eagles the lead (7-6), before a passed ball tied the game up (7-7), headed into the bottom of the 7th. An error in the bottom of the inning gave the Eagles the lead (8-7), and the score remained the same headed into the top of the 9th, as FGCU turned the game over to their closer: LJ McDonough. McDonough walked the bases loaded, before striking out three batters in a row, preserving the 8-7 victory for the Eagles. McDonough earned his sixth save of the season, and FGCU earned their first victory over an FAU team that has given them fits this season.
