Overview:

In game one of the series, the Hatters were led offensively by Drew Wyers and Cameron Hill who each had 3 RBI’s in the game. Jonathan Gonzalez (7-4) earned the win in relief, and starter Nick Love (3-2) took the loss for FGCU. Joe Kinker hit 2 home runs, and drove in 4 RBI’s to lead the Eagles. Kinker’s 2nd home run brought the Eagles within 2 runs (9-7), but that would be the closest FGCU would get Friday night.

In game two of the series, FGCU jumped all over Hatters starting pitcher Nick Durgin (3-3), as the Eagles scored 8 runs off the pitcher. FGCU received home runs from Edrick Felix and Alejandro Figueredo in the blowout victory. The Eagles were led offensively by Figueredo, who finished with 4 RBI’s in the game. Daniel Labrador finished with the only RBI in the game for the Hatters. The game only lasted 7 innings due to the 10 run rule.

In game three of the series, Stetson took an early 3-0 lead, chasing FGCU starter Chase Kriebel out of the game, and the Hatters continued to put the pressure on the Eagles, racing out to a 7-1 lead in the top of the 4th. FGCU would not let up though, as Joe Kinker hit a three run home run in the bottom of the 4th, to pull the Eagles back within 3 runs (7-4). Cameron Hill added another RBI in the top of the 6th (8-4), but that would be it scoringwise for the Hatters. Harrison Povey added a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the 6th (8-6), before the Eagles added 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, with Stephen Wilmer driving in a run, and Alejandro Rodriguez hitting a solo home run to tie the game up (8-8). Alejandro Figueredo hit a three run home run in the bottom of the 8th, and that’s all she wrote, as LJ McDonough (5-2) earned the win in relief, and it was a huge series win for the Eagles.
