Overview:

The Eagles dominated USF Tuesday afternoon, and 2 out hitting was the difference in today’s game. FGCU scored 7 runs in the top of the 5th inning, and an Edrick Felix solo home run, gave the Eagles their first lead of the game, and his home run was the go-ahead run in Tuesday’s game. Harrison Povey hit two 3 run home runs, and finished with 6 RBI’s, to lead the Eagles offensively. USF was led offensively by Daniel Cantu, who drove in 2 runs for the Bulls. Stephen Wilmer (1-0) earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing one hit, and 2 earned runs, while striking out 3, and walking 2 batters. Stephen also drove in a run for the Eagles in the game too, getting it done both on the mound, and in the batter’s circle. It was great to see FGCU get back in track during a mid-week game, and we hope they can take this momentum into ASUN Conference play this weekend.

What’s Next:

FGCU (30-11, 13-5 ASUN) heads on the road to face Austin Peay University (21-20, 12-6 ASUN), for a three game series, starting Friday night from Clarksville, Tennessee.
