The Eagles and Gamecocks square off for the first time in program history, and both teams have had strong seasons in conference play. The Gamecocks are 10-5 in ASUN Conference play, with series wins over Queens University, Bellarmine, and UNF. Head Coach Jim Case has led JSU for the last 21 seasons. The Gamecocks are led offensively by Javon Hernandez, who is hitting .440, with 4 home runs, and 34 RBI’s. JSU’s ace for the pitching staff is Eli Zielinski, who is 6-0, with a 2.93 ERA, and has struck out 56 hitters in 46 innings pitched.

FGCU heads into this game looking to maintain first place in the ASUN Conference standings. The Eagles are led offensively by Edrick Felix, who is hitting .388 with 16 home runs, and 51 RBI’s. Felix is 1st on the team in batting average, home runs, and RBI’s, and had an outstanding first year and Sophomore season for the Eagles. The heart of this batting order includes Joe Kinker (.367, 13 HR, and 48 RBI’s), Jacob Lojewski (.315, 16 HR, and 46 RBI’s), and Alejandro Figueredo (.370, 13 HR, and 45 RBI’s). FR RHP Justin Henschel (4-0, 4.15 ERA, 25 K’s) has had an outstanding season with the injuries to both Jason Woodward, and Mason Miller. This is a huge series for both teams, and for the Eagles to put this past week behind them, they will need to win this series, which maintains 1st place in the ASUN Conference standings.
