Overview:
#15 FGCU and EKU square off for the first time in program history, in ASUN play, Friday night from Richmond. The Colonels have struggled this season, especially in conference play. EKU is 4-8 overall in ASUN play, with only one series wins that came against UNF. The Colonels are led offensively by Miguel Larreal, who is batting .349, with 2 home runs, and 11 RBI’s. Head Coach Chris Prothro, had led EKU since 2020. Last season the Colonels went 38-20 (20-10 ASUN), claiming a share of the ASUN Conference West Division Championship.
#15 FGCU is coming off their second loss this season to FAU, and enjoying an amazing season offensively overall. The 10-2 record in ASUN Conference play includes series wins at home vs Liberty, and Jacksonville, and road series sweeps vs UNA, and Queens. The Eagles are led offensively by Alejandro Figueredo, who is batting .390, with 12 home runs, and 40 RBI’s. Edrick Felix (.385, 13 HR, and 43 RBI’s), Joe Kinker (.377, 12 HR, and 45 RBI’s), Alejandro Rodriguez (.346, 5 HR, and 34 RBI’s), and Jacob Lojewski (.339, 13 HR, and 44 RBI’s) are all part of the heart of this batting order.
