#16 FGCU and Jacksonville University face off this weekend, and both teams are playing some of the best baseball in the ASUN Conference. The Dolphins are winners of their past five games, and most recently completed a three game home sweep of Central Arkansas. Kris Armstrong was named D1 baseball Player of the Week, after hitting 8 home runs last week, with 6 of those home runs coming in the final two games of the UCA series.

#16 FGCU has won their past seven games, including a three game road sweep of UNA, where the Eagles outscored the Lions 56-17. The Eagles are led offensively by Alejandro Figueredo, who is batting .408 with 9 home runs, and 33 RBI’s. Edrick Felix (.392, 9 HR, and 30 RBI’s), and Joe Kinker (.382, 8 HR, and 34 RBI’s) continue to mash in the middle of this lineup, and the offense this team brings every series, game, inning, and pitch, make it difficult on every opposing manager that faces #16 FGCU. With the news of Jason Woodward, being officially ruled out for the season, this rotation and bullpen will have to continue to be sharp, as the Eagles navigate ASUN Conference play. Freshman pitchers Justin Henschel (3-0, 3.33 ERA, 15 K), and Chase Kriebel (1-1, 4.44 ERA, 8 K) have been clutch for this team, and it’s always interesting to see how Coach Tollett handles the pitching staff whether it’s a mid week game, or a weekend ASUN Conference play series. Huge series for both teams, as #16 FGCU will be facing JU on ESPN+.
