Overview:
Troy entered this series undefeated at 11-0, before they ran into the red hot #24 FGCU Eagles. Troy is the latest team to get swept by the Eagles, and the heart of this team, and offensive productivity that Coach Tollett has seen from the Eagles 14 games in, has caught the attention of the nation. The Eagles combined for 23 runs, in the two game series, outscoring the Trojans 23-10.
Joe Kinker remains one of the hottest hitters in the country, and went 3/5, with 4 runs, a grand slam (7th home run), and drove in 5 RBI’s. Alejandro Rodriguez drove in 3 RBI’s, and all of his production came in the top of the 4th, and top of the 5th, which helped blow the game wide open for FGCU. Stephen Wilmer has continued to remain hot offensively, hitting his 6th home run last night, and finishing with 2 RBI’s. Troy was led offensively by Ethan Kavanagh, who drove in 3 runs, and went 3/4 in the game. The #24 Eagles are completely locked in right now, and it’s exciting to see what this team looks like with ASUN Conference play coming up next week at home vs Liberty University (7-5).
What’s Next:
FGCU (12-2) remains on the road, and heads to Tallahassee to face FAMU (5-9), for a three game series, starting Friday night from Moore-Kittles Field.
