Overview:
FGCU and FIU square off for the first time this season, and while the Eagles are riding high after a two series sweeps vs Hofstra, and UMASS Lowell. The Golden Panthers lost three out of four games this last weekend vs Missouri. Head Coach Rich Whitten has led the team since October 2022. He joined FIU after spending five seasons with VCU, where he was a hitting coach, and recruiting coordinator since 2018. FIU is led offensively by Ryne Guida, who is hitting .414 with a home run, and 11 RBI’s. FIU was picked to finish 9th out of 10 teams in Conference USA.
FGCU is led offensively by Joe Kinker, who is hitting .452 with a HR, and 9 RBI’s. Jacob Lojewski (.450, 3 HR, and 10 RBI’s) and Edrick Felix (.433, 4 HR, and 10 RBI’s) continue to provide timely hitting for the Eagles, as they are off to their best start since 2008, at 7-1 overall. The Eagles are receiving outstanding pitching, and timely hitting, and when you have those two things, the result is wins. Should be a great game Tuesday night between the Eagles and Golden Panthers. See you at Swanny!
