Overview:
FGCU will clinch a spot in the ASUN Conference tournament with a win vs Austin Peay, Friday night. The Eagles struggled though and lost to the Governors, 61-59, on 1/5, from the Dunn Center. In that game, the Governors were led offensively by Sean Durugordon, Carlos Paez, and Rodrique Massenat, who each scored 10 points. Zach Anderson scored a game high 14 points for the Eagles in that game. Since that game, Austin Peay is 2-12, and are currently in 14th place in the ASUN Conference, which is last place. The Eagles are 4-10 overall since that game, and are currently in 10th place, in the ASUN Conference.
FGCU is led offensively by Isaiah Thompson, who is averaging 14.9 ppg. The Governors are led offensively by Sean Durugordon, who is averaging 12.4 ppg. The key for an Eagles win, is being able to defend both 6’11 C Elijah Hutchins-Everett, and 6’9 F Shon Robinson in the post. Both post players averaging in double figures in scoring, and at times, have been the best players on the court for Austin Peay. It’s win and you’re in for the Eagles, and obviously this season has been super frustrating, with how this conference season has went for the Eagles, compared to the non-conference portion of the schedule, but hopefully the Eagles can get it done in the final regular season game from Alico Arena.
