Overview:
FGCU’s offense came to life in game one of the series, as the Eagles soared past Hofstra. A 9 run 6th inning was key in the victory, and FGCU was led offensively by Edrick Felix, who went 2 for 3, scoring 2 runs, and hit a HR, while driving in 4 runs. Alejandro Rodriguez had a big game too, and finished 2 for 4, with 2 runs, and 3 RBI’s. He opened the scoring stealing home in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Starter Jason Woodward was dealing for FGCU, and pitched 6 innings, allowing 0 runs, while striking out 5 batters. It was a great start to the season for the home team.

Overview:
In the second game of the series, FGCU once again received strong starting pitching from Mason Miller, who went 4 2/3 innings, while allowing 2 earned runs, and struck out six batters. Jacob Lojewski went 2 for 2, scoring a run, and hitting a solo home run, while driving in 3 runs. Alejandro Figueredo was vital in the win also, going 3 for 4, scoring a run, and driving in 3 runs. Zach Bailey hit a solo home run in the game for Hofstra.

Overview:
In the third game of the series, Hofstra took an early lead in the top of the 2nd, at 2-0, before FGCU got on the board, courtesy of a Alejandro Rodriguez RBI ground out. Hoftstra responded immediately in the top of the 3rd, courtesy of a Kenendy solo home run. The big inning plagued Hofstra again, as the Eagles put up 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th, and then 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th, to put the game out of reach. Edrick Felix and Alejandro Figueredo both hit 2 run home runs as part of the power surge for the Eagles, and this offense from the top of the order to the bottom of the order, has been solid like we thought they would be, and it’s great seeing some of the new additions fit right in with the returning core of players.

Overview:
Game 4 of the series was a back and forth affair, with Hoftstra taking the lead, at 4-2 in the top of the 5th inning, courtesy of a Marrero 2 RBI single. The Eagles responded immediately in the bottom of the inning, tying the game up after Joe Kinker hit a solo home run, and a Jake Mummau RBI triple, scored Alejandro Rodriguez. FGCU took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th, courtesy of a bases loaded walk that drove in Brian Ellis. William Haberstock (1-0), earned the win for the Eagles in relief, and Connor O’Hara pitched a scoreless 9th, earning the save. Edrick Felix continued to swing a hot bat, and drove in another RBI, with a sacrifice fly. Kinker and Rodriguez led the team with 2 RBI’s each. The Eagles swept the series with the win, and anytime you start the season at 4-0, it’s a great start.
