Overview:
#25 FGCU continues to get closer to securing the overall #1 seed for the ASUN Conference tournament, after a big win vs Lipscomb, Thursday night at home. The Eagles are getting it done both offensively, and defensively.
Austin Peay is led offensively by Shamarre Hale, who is averaging 11.6 ppg, and comes off the bench for the Governors, and does her best work out of that role. The Governors are 10-4 in ASUN Conference play, and are sitting at 4th place in the conference standings. Head Coach Brittany Young is in her second season leading Austin Peay.
#25 FGCU is led offensively by TK Morehouse, who is averaging 16.4 ppg. This team has so much depth, and at any point, Alyza Winston (13.3 ppg), or Sha Carter (12.9 ppg), can lead the team offensively. Carter was vital in extending the Eagles winning streak Thursday night, after her 30 point performance. For FGCU to defeat Austin Peay, the Eagles will have to limit Hale, and Johnson. Hale is a force inside, and Johnson is the point guard the offense runs through. FGCU is looking to extend their winning streak to eight games, and with every win they get closer to securing another ASUN Conference Regular Season title, and with that, they control their destiny in the ASUN Conference tournament.
