STETSON/FGCU RECAP

Fort Myers, FL- FGCU (23-3, 11-1 ASUN) dominated Stetson University (11-14, 5-7 ASUN), defeating the Hatters 100-58, Thursday night, from Alico Arena.

Stats (SU):

Stetson shot 44.0% (22/50) from the field, 41.7% (5/12) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 29-21 by FGCU. The Hatters dished out 12 assists, had 4 steals, and 1 block in the game. Stetson forced 13 FGCU team turnovers, while having 18 team turnovers of their own.

FGCU shot 62.7% (37/59) from the field, 53.1% (17/32) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded Stetson 29-21. The Eagles dished out 27 assists, had 9 steals, and 2 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 18 Stetson team turnovers, while having 13 team turnovers of their own.

Overview:

FGCU scored triple digits for the second game in a row, and won their fifth game in a row, dominating the Hatters, Thursday night in Fort Myers. The Eagles pulled away in the first half of the game, shooting 72% from beyond the arc, and hitting 13 three point field goals. FGCU also limited the Hatters to 16 points in the second half, and when you have balanced scoring, and stifling defense, this FGCU team is gonna be very difficult to beat. Heading into this game, the Hatters were only allowing their opponents to average around 59 ppg, and that changed Thursday night from Alico Arena.

FGCU was led offensively by TK Morehouse, who scored a game high 17 points, and she also had 10 assists finishing with a double double for the second game in a row. Sha Carter (16 points), Alyza Winston (14 points), and Uju Ezeudu (11 points), all scored in double figures for FGCU. The Eagles shot a scoring 62% from the field, and 53% from beyond the arc, cruising to victory. Uju had a big first half scoring most of their points in that portion of the game. With 2:45 left in the first quarter, the game was tied at 17, FGCU went on a 12-2 run to end the quarter, and that was the story of the game.

Stetson was led by Khamya McNeal, who scored 16 points in the game. She was the best player on the court for the Hatters, Thursday night.

FGCU (23-3, 11-1 ASUN) faces Stetson University (11-14, 5-8 ASUN), again, this time from the Edmunds Center, in Deland, Saturday at 1 PM.
