Jacksonville, FL- FGCU (21-3, 9-1 ASUN) defeated Jacksonville University (9-11, 3-7 ASUN), 77-31, Thursday afternoon from Swisher Gymnasium.

Stats (FGCU):

FGCU shot 57.1% (29/57) from the field, 38.2% (13/34) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded JU, 40-21. The Eagles dished out 23 assists, had 10 steals, and 2 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 13 JU team turnovers, while having 11 team turnovers of their own.

Stats (JU):

JU shot 22.7% (10/44) from the field, 10% (1/10) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 40-21 by FGCU. The Dolphins dished out 3 assists, had 7 steals, and 0 blocks in the game. JU forced 11 FGCU team turnovers, while having 13 team turnovers of their own.

Overview:

FGCU dominated JU Thursday afternoon, and it was great to see the Eagles shoot the ball the way they did vs the Dolphins. FGCU was led offensively by TK Morehouse, who scored a game high 17 points. Sha Carter (14 points), Maddie Antenucci (11 points), and Alyza Winston (10 points), all scored in double figures for the Eagles.

JU was led offensively by DeShari Graham, who scored 11 points. The Eagles were able to limit the Dolphins leading scorer: Seraphine Bastin to only 6 points in the game. The Eagles knocked down 13 three point field goals, and shot 38% from beyond the arc. FGCU held JU to 10% from beyond the arc (1/10). The Eagles defense held the Dolphins to only 11 second half points. FGCU outscored JU 44-11 in the second half of today’s game. It was a great performance for FGCU, and it shows that it is very hard to stop this team, when they are playing at a clip like this.

FGCU (21-3, 9-1 ASUN) remains on the road, and faces UNF (6-13, 3-6 ASUN), Saturday afternoon at 2 PM from UNF Arena.
