FGCU/QUEENS RECAP

Charlotte, NC- FGCU (17-2, 6-0 ASUN) won their tenth game in a row, defeating Queens University of Charlotte (6-11, 1-5 ASUN), 95-56, Thursday night from Curry Arena.

Stats (FGCU):

FGCU shot 63.3% (38/60) from the field, 40.7% (11/27) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded Queens 39-25. The Eagles dished out 26 assists, had 6 steals, and 3 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 16 Queens team turnovers, while having 15 team turnovers in the game.

Stats (QUOC):

Queens shot 37.9% (22/58) from the field, 0% (0/14) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 39-25 by the Eagles. The Royals dished out 4 assists, had 8 steals, and 1 block in the game. Queens forced 15 FGCU team turnovers, while having 16 team turnovers in the game.

Overview:

The Eagles were in complete control of this game from the tip, and cruised to victory against a Royals team that could not stop them in any facet of the game. FGCU took a 56-23 lead into halftime, and would not be denied their tenth win in a row. Sha Carter led the Eagles offensively, scoring a game high 22 points, and grabbing a game high 11 rebounds. Alyza Winston (12 points), TK Morehouse (11 points), and Sophia Stiles (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Eagles.

The Royals were led offensively by Jordyn Weaver, who scored 16 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Adia Brisker (13 points), and Kinley Brown (11 points) also scored in double figures, for Queens University of Charlotte. Tonight was a game where FGCU was able to rest their starters early, and cruise to victory, and you have to cherish games like these, especially in conference play.

What’s Next:

FGCU (17-2, 6-0 ASUN) faces Liberty University (10-7, 4-2 ASUN), Saturday night at 7 PM, from Liberty Arena. The Eagles defeated Liberty 70-53, on January 2nd, to open ASUN Conference play, from Alico Arena.
