FGCU and JSU square off from Alico Arena, and both teams are in need of a win. FGCU has dropped their past two ASUN Conference road games, while JSU has began ASUN Conference play 1-5. The Gamecocks are led offensively by Demaree King, who is averaging 14.2 ppg. King, one of the top three point shooters in the nation, led the nation at one time in shooting last season, and finished 2nd overall, at 45.2%. Head Coach Ray Harper is in his 7th season leading JSU. The wins for the Gamecocks this season came against Shorter, Elon, North Dakota State, ETSU, Reinhardt, Little Rock, Georgia Southwestern, and UNF. Setbacks this season for JSU came against UIC, Alabama, New Mexico, Northern Colorado, Utah, South Alabama, UNA, Jacksonville (2x), Liberty, and Bellarmine.
The Eagles are in dire need of a win, after underperforming in back to back ASUN Conference road games vs Eastern Kentucky, and Bellarmine. Since defeating UNF, FGCU has been without the services of breakout JR F Zach Anderson (12.5 ppg) these past two games, and having him back in the lineup would be a welcome addition to the squad, and would bring a flow back to the offense. Isaiah Thompson continues to lead the Eagles offensively, averaging 13.0 ppg. Both teams faced off last season, and JSU defeated FGCU 79-71 from Jacksonville. Head Coach Pat Chambers will need a total team effort, for the Eagles to climb back over .500 in ASUN Conference play, Thursday night from Alico Arena.
