Overview:

FGCU heads on the road to face their only SEC opponent this season: the University of Kentucky. The Wildcats are led by Head Coach Kyra Elzy, who is in her eleventh season with the team. She has been head coach of the team since the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats are led offensively by 5’9 GR G Robyn Benton, who averages 15.3 ppg. Kentucky is 7-3 overall, with wins over Radford, Morehead State, Coastal Carolina, Bellarmine, Dayton, UNC Greensboro, and Minnesota. Their setbacks came against Virginia Tech in the Bahamas, and vs Louisville, and Murray State at home. The Wildcats are on a season long two game losing streak headed into the game with the Eagles.

FGCU looks for another signature win in non-conference play Sunday afternoon in Lexington. The Eagles continue to be led offensively by Alyza Winston (13.9 ppg), and TK Morehouse (13.8 ppg). Defending Kentucky in the post will be a big challenge for FGCU, like any other power five conference team they have played all year, with Kentucky having a roster of five players between 6’2-6’4. It’s a huge opportunity for FGCU Sunday afternoon, and we will be watching with hopes of victory number 9 as the Eagles inch closer to ASUN play.
