Overview:
FGCU beat a tough and gritty FIU team, that had been averaging 81.7 ppg leading into this game. Cold shooting in the 1st half led to a 32-31 Eagles lead at the half. FGCU opened up their largest lead of the game at 68-52 in the 2nd half, and were able to win the game at the charity stripe, finishing off the Golden Panthers. The Eagles hit 10 3 point field goals, shooting 37% from beyond the arc, which has been their bread and butter all season. Zach Anderson led the Eagles offensively, with a double-double, finishing with 18 points, and 13 rebounds. Caleb Catto (14 points), and Chase Johnston (11 points) also finished in double figures for FGCU.
FIU was led offensively by Mohamed Sanogo, who finished with a game high 23 points, and he was a force in the post for the Golden Panthers. Dashon Gittens (12 points) also finished in double figures in scoring for FIU. It was a great team win for the Eagles, as their impressive start to the season continues.
