FGCU heads into this game, winners of three straight games, including all three games in the Gulf Coast Showcase, as they left Hertz Arena as the champions. The Eagles played some of their best basketball of the season in the Gulf Coast Showcase. FGCU is led offensively by Isaiah Thompson, who is averaging 13.9 ppg.

Georgia Southern has wins over Trinity Baptist, Houston Christian, Western Michigan, and Ogelthorpe on the season. Their losses were against San Jose State, Santa Clara, and Rice. Head Coach Brian Burg has led the team since 2020. The Eagles are led offensively by Andrei Savrasov, who is averaging 12.5 ppg. FGCU defeated Georgia Southern 73-30 on December 22, 2020 from Alico Arena, in their last previous meeting. 6’11 R-SR F Carlos Curry is the Eagles big man in the post, he averages 10.3 ppg, and limiting him is key to an FGCU victory.
