Overview:
FGCU and Drexel face off Tuesday night in the Gulf Coast Showcase, with both teams winning their respective first games in the tournament. The Eagles are 0-2 overall vs Drexel, and they previously met in 2007, where the Dragons beat FGCU 77-58, from Alico Arena. Drexel has wins over Old Dominion, Arcadia, and UT-Arlington on the season, with their lone defeat being vs Penn. Head Coach Zach Spiker is in his seventh season leading the Dragons. 6’10 JR F Amari Williams leads the team averaging 14.7 ppg.
FGCU is led offensively by 6’7 JR F Zach Anderson, who is averaging 14.8 ppg, and playing the best basketball of his college career. Head Coach Pat Chambers is in his first season leading the Eagles, and FGCU has looked strong through five non-conference games. The new league FGCU team is full of transfers this season along with a few of the usual faces most FGCU fans are used to seeing.
