Overview:

The Eagles and Toreros, both winners of their first Bank of Hawaii Classic games face off with each other Sunday night. The Eagles handedly beat Hawaii 65-45, while the Toreros defeated ASUN Conference member Lipscomb, 49-45. San Diego is 3-1 on the season, and their other wins include games vs Biola (75-47), and Portland State (57-47). Their only setback was at home vs USC (50-58). The Toreros play in the West Coast Conference, and are led by Head Coach Cindy Fisher, who has been with the program since 2005. 5’11 GR G Myah Pace leads the team averaging 11.0 ppg. The Toreros have plenty of veteran upperclassmen at guard, and there are plenty of great guards on both teams, so the individual matchups at guard will be huge.

TK Morehouse led the Eagles offensively in game one of the Bank of Hawaii Classic, scoring 17 points. Leading scorer Alyza Winston, didn’t play vs the University of Hawai’i, but the combination of TK and Alyza, has been one of the best duos in the early part of the non-conference season, and if it continues, will be the best duos in the ASUN Conference, and the nation. Kaela Webb had a strong game in the previous game, and if Alyza is unable to face the Toreros, expect her and Sophia Stiles to be counted on to play big minutes, and contribute just like every player does on a Karl Smesko coached basketball team. FGCU looks to make it four wins in a row, as they continue their play in the Bank of Hawaii Classic.
