Overview:

The Eagles have played well in their first two games defating Old Dominion University (81-62), and Florida International University (92-63). Alyza Winston leads the Eagles offensively, averaging 20.5 ppg. She earned ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors also last week for her offensive performance. It’s great to have a 1,2 punch in Winston and Morehouse, and this team is super talented and deep at guard, which will benefit them the longer the season goes.

Head Coach Laura Beeman has led the Rainow Warriors since the 2012. She led Hawai’i to the NCAA Tournament last year, and it was their first appearance in six years. Hawai’i is a member of the Big West Conference. Hawai’i won an exhibition game vs D2 Hawaii Pacific University, but has lost both regular season games on the road vs Oregon State (61-60), and Portland (70-54). Hawai’i is led offensively by Daejah Phillips, who averages 18.5 ppg. Hawai’i has major height in the post with 6’3 Forward Kallin Spiller, who averages 8.0 ppg, and 6’3 SR F Meg Jefferson, who transferred from the University of Virginia. Meg, was 6th in the NCAA in shooting percentage (73.3%), and led the Cavaliers in shooting percentage. The Rainbow Warriors also boast 6’2 SO F Nnenna Orji, and 6’4 FR F Imani Perez. The key for the Eagles will be to maximize guarding the bigs. FGCU is super talented at guard, and defensively should be able to hold Phillips, and Wahinekapu in check.
