In what was a highly contested game after one quarter (21-15), FGCU surely changed the pace, en route to a huge victory vs FIU, Sunday afternoon. FGCU was paced by Alyza Winston, who scored a game high 19 points, and three other Eagles scored in double figures in the game. The Eagles shot 40% from beyond the arc, hitting 15 3 point field goals, and that was the difference in this afternoon’s game. It was great to see other players like Seneca Hackley (13 points), Sha Carter (13 points), and Sophia Stiles (10 points) step up too, which shows the depth of this team overall. FIU was led offensively by Sifa Joyeuse, who scored 15 points. This team is super talented and full of depth, and while we are only two games into this season, keep a close eye on this team, as they enter the Bank of Hawaii Classic, and Rainbow Wahine Showdown, to see if the Eagles can pull the ultimate upset vs #2 Stanford, and win the other remaining games of these two prestigious tournaments.
