Overview:

FGCU played well against a very tough opponent in Old Dominion University, in their home opener Monday night. While TK led FGCU and took over for the game (24 points), newcomer Alyza Winston, had a huge game scoring 22 points in the victory. The Winston/Morehouse combination at guard will be one to watch as the season continues to play out. Uju Ezeudu played well also for FGCU, and both her game offensively, and defensively will play dividends for the Eagles.

FIU was dominant in their home opener, defeating NC Central, 103-56. Head Coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley has been with the program since 2020. The Golden Panthers are led offensively by 5’11 R-FR G Sifa Joyeuse, who averages 21.0 ppg. FIU is a member of C-USA.

FGCU and FIU last met on December 20th, and December 21st, in the 2020-21 season, where the Eagles defeated the Golden Panthers twice, 86-68, and 80-66, with both meetings taking place on the road from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
