Overview:
In game 1 of the series, KSU earned the win, courtesy of a Josh Hatcher grand slam in the top of the 6th inning. The Eagles began to claw back in this game as FGCU scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th courtesy of a Logan Santori bases loaded walk, Brian Ellis bases loaded walk, and Stephen Wilmer was hit by a pitch in the inning. Rine shut the door on the Eagles, and earned his 5th save of the season.
In the second game of the series, the Eagles received back to back home runs from Ian Farrow and Joe Kinker, to take a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning, and later added on another run in the 4th. KSU raced back to tie the game in the top of the 7th, with a Nick Colina 2 RBI single. FGCU walked off in the bottom of the 9th, as Kinker delivered an RBI single, scoring Farrow.
In the final game of the series, the Eagles fell behind early in the 1st inning, as Donovan delivered a 2 RBI single off FGCU starting pitcher Victor Najer to take the lead. Harrison Povey, as he has all season, came through with a clutch 3 run home run to tie the game up at 4 in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Both teams traded runs in the 4th inning, until the Eagles took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the 8th inning, courtesy of a Luis Rodriguez solo home run. In the top of the 9th, Tyler Simon tied the game up with a sacrifice fly, as the Owls forced extra innings, after the Eagles couldn’t score in the bottom of the inning. Stephen Wilmer won the game for the Eagles with a pinch hit RBI single in the bottom of the 10th.
