Overview:
FGCU heads into this series with Kennesaw State University looking to build off their recent ASUN Conference series success. KSU is undefeated in Conference play, with 3 game sweeps of UNF at home, and Jacksonville University on the road. The Owls are led offensively by Josh Hatcher who is hitting .400 with 2 HR, and 19 RBI’s. The Owls have a signature non-conference win over #12 Georgia Tech this season. Head Coach Ryan Coe is in his 1st season leading the Owls, but also coached as an assistant coach from 1997-2009, before heading to the Texas Rangers, where he was hired as an East Coast cross checker identifying and evaluating prospects. Coe played for KSU from 1994-1995. It should be a great series with both teams having deep lineups. The Eagles have 245 RBI’s in 25 games this season, compared to 144 RBI’s for the Owls in 24 games.
The Eagles are led offensively by Alejandro Figueredo who is batting .436 with 5 HR, and 32 RBI’s on the season. Ian Farrow leads the team with 9 home runs, and bats in the 2 hole, setting up Joe Kinker (7 home runs), so if trying to stop Brian Ellis isn’t enough, you get Farrow/Kinker/Figueredo, 2-4. Freshman Harrison Povey also has had a huge effect on this team, and we can’t wait to see him continue to contribute to the success of this team. Huge series this weekend vs the Owls, see you at Swanson!
