Overview:
The Eagles took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, courtesy of a Harrison Povey 2 RBI single, but ultimately a 10 run 3rd inning by #12 Miami led to the loss Wednesday night. Starter Mason Miller (1-4) struggled with his command in the 3rd inning, and didn’t make it out of the inning. Miami was relentless scoringwise, doing most of their damage in that inning with no outs. The Eagles went through 3 Pitchers in the 3rd inning of the game. #12 Miami was led offensively by CJ Kayfus, who had 4 hits and 3 RBI’s in the game. Jake Garland (4-1) lasted 5 innings, and struck out 8 Eagles in the game, after not striking out anyone last week in his previous start. Harrison Povey led the Eagles offensively with 3 RBI’s in the game. Brian Ellis homered in the game for the Eagles. The Eagles are still in search of their first signature win vs a top 25 team, and will face #12 Miami on the road on Tuesday in Coral Gables.
