Overview:
FGCU overcame a tough late inning loss Friday night, and took the next two games, winning the series vs Jacksonville University this weekend.
In Game 1 of the series, it was a back and forth run scoring affair between both teams, until Jonah Diaz came through with a 2 RBI single that drove in Ridley, and Grabsky to give the Dolphins the lead for good. In the bottom of the 9th, the Eagles rallied for an RBI from Alejandro Rodriguez, but it wouldn’t be enough, as Tyler Vogel shut the door for his 7th save of the season.
In Game 2 of the series, JU jumped in front taking a 3-0 lead courtesy of RBI’s from Christian Coipel, and Jake Berg. Ian Farrow got the Eagles on the board in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI single. and Alejandro Rodriguez gave the Eagles the lead for good with a 2 RBI single that made it a 5-3 game. Tyler Shuck pitched well enough to win going 6 innings, and allowed only 4 runs. Joey Mugavero shut the door pitching the last 3 innings and only allowed 1 unearned run.
In Game 3 of the series, JU took the lead in the 1st inning, but the Eagles scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, and 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th to put the game away. FGCU won Sunday’s rubber game via the long ball, hitting 4 home runs in the game. Ian Farrow, Joe Kinker, Harrison Povey, and Alejandro Figueredo went deep for the Eagles. Najer Victor (4-0) continued his strong season for the Eagles, pitching 6 strong innings allowing only one earned run, while striking out 7 Dolphins hitters. FGCU is 5-1 in ASUN play, and continues their strong season at 18-6.

FGCU (18-6) remains home to face the University of Miami (17-6) Wednesday night from Swanson Stadium at 6:30 PM.
