Overview:
The FGCU offense completely took off this weekend on the road vs Stetson! The Eagles scored 46 runs off the Hatters pitching staff, and completed a huge sweep of a Stetson team that had won seven games in a row before facing FGCU. FGCU is getting really strong pitching, historic hitting, and is one of the toughest teams to beat in the NCAA, when they are playing at this pace. The 25 runs scored by the Eagles were the most in program history.
Alejandro Rodriguez drove in 13 RBI’s while hitting 2 home runs in the series, Harrison Povey and Ian Farrow hit 2 home runs each to stay hot offensively, and Luis Rodriguez drove in 7 RBI’s. The Hatters will not be going away, so when the Eagles see the same team April 22-24, we are very interested in what the Hatters and Eagles look like record wise towards the tail end of ASUN Conference play. It’s super impressive how well that Tyler Shuck, and Najer Victor played this weekend in a key series also. Jason Woodward pitched well in the 3 innings he pitched in a game that was delayed, suspended, and then finished Saturday afternoon. A big series for Jacksonville University is on deck this weekend, a team that ended the Eagles season last year.
What’s Next:
FGCU (16-4) faces USF (13-7), Tuesday night from Swanson Stadium at 6:30 PM.
