Overview:
Another strong weekend for the Eagles, as the FGCU bats remained hot, and the pitching was almost unhittable.
In game one of the series, FGCU received nearly 8 innings from Jason Woodward, where he allowed only an earned run, and four hits, while striking out eight Pirates. Offensively, the Eagles were led by OF Brian Ellis, who drove in 2 runs. Darien Smith shut the door in the 9th, earning the four out save for FGCU.
In the second game of the series, the Eagles bats wouldn’t be denied, as FGCU scored 10 runs combined between the 2nd and 3rd innings. SS Trevor Kole drove in six runs, and four of those runs came courtesy of a grand slam in the bottom of the 3rd inning. C Mac Moise also had a big game with 3 hits, and drove in 3 runs in the game. Tyler Shuck, was masterful, allowing only one hit while striking out three Pirates through 6 innings pitched.
In the final game of the series, FGCU starting pitcher Najer Victor pitched 6 perfect innings, while striking out six Pirates. The offense was led by 1B Alejandro Figueredo, who had two hits, and drove in four runs to lead the Eagles offensively. FGCU’s bats came alive in thr 7th, and 8th innings, combining to score five runs.

FGCU (10-2) faces #10 FSU (7-3) Tuesday night at 6 PM from Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee.
