Overview:
#23 FGCU swept Liberty University, and have homecourt advantage throughout the ASUN Conference tournament as the #1 seed. Kierstan Bell surprised everyone and came back and looks completely healthy. She finished with a game high 23 points, and her teammate TK Morehouse finished with 20 points. Bridgette Rettstatt led Liberty with a double double of 15 points, and 13 rebounds. This game went back and forth, and could have gone either way. Alyssa Iverson was solid again against the Eagles, and scored 13 points. The Eagles defense zoned in on Mya Berkman, and held her to 10 points in the game.
These two teams will most likely face off again in the ASUN Championship game, if both teams run the table during the ASUN Conference tournament, and that game will be played at Alico Arena. In the game tonight, TK was driving right to the basket, and would not be denied. The Eagles offense had so much more life to it, with Kierstan Bell back for FGCU. In a game where FGCU did not shoot well from beyond the arc, they did enough to hand Liberty University their first loss at home since 11/23 vs Memphis University. Liberty University faces Kennesaw State University to end their regular season before ASUN Tournament play.
What’s Next:
#23 FGCU (25-2, 14-1 ASUN) faces Jacksonville University (15-11, 8-7 ASUN) on Saturday at 4 PM from Alico Arena on Senior Night.
