Fort Myers. FL- #20 FGCU (21-1, 11-0 ASUN) won their 15th game in a row after surviving a strong test from UNA (9-13, 4-6 ASUN), beating the Lions, 63-53, Wednesday night from Alico Arena.

The Eagles shot 38.2% (21/55) from the field, 29.2% (7/24) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 38-37 by the Lions. FGCU dished out 10 assists, had 6 steals, and 7 blocks in the game. The Eagles forced 15 UNA team turnovers, and had 12 team turnovers of their own.

Hina Suzuki 9 pts, 7 reb

Outstanding Players (#20 FGCU):

TK Morehouse 19 pts, 6 reb

Kendall Spray 13 pts, 6 reb

Karli Seay 12 pts, 2 reb

Overview:

The Eagles trailed in this game as they headed into halftime, but came out strong to take the lead. UNA would not go away though, as the Lions went basket for basket with the Eagles at one point. #20 FGCU will have games like these, where their shooting will go cold, so it’s great to take the win vs a young Lions team that Head Coach Missy Tibber will develop into a contender in the ASUN Conference for years to come. The Eagles were led offensively by workhorse Guard TK Morehouse, who finished with 19 points. UNA was led offensively by Alexis Callins, who scored 18 points.

What’s Next:

#20 FGCU (21-1, 11-0 ASUN) faces Stetson University (14-10, 7-4 ASUN) Saturday night at 7 PM from Alico Arena.

FGCU beat Stetson University 78-41 in the previous matchup from the Edmunds Center in January. Stetson is a different team though, as they have won six games in a row in ASUN Conference play, so expect a game Hatters team that will be looking to upset the nationally ranked Eagles.
