Fort Myers, FL- FGCU (13-8, 3-4 ASUN) defeated EKU (10-11, 2-5 ASUN), 77-73, Thursday night from Alico Arena.


FGCU shot 45.2% (28/62) from the field, 28.6% (8/28) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded EKU 46-33. The Eagles dished out 13 assists, had 7 steals, and 5 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 9 EKU team turnovers, while having 14 team turnovers of their own.

FGCU got back on track defeating EKU Thursday night. Kevin Samuel had another monster game, finishing with a double double of 18 points, and 14 rebounds, while Austin Ritchie also finished with 18 points, with key 3 point shooting (4/7 from beyond the arc) in 17 minutes off the bench. Cyrus Largie was vital in the win, finishing with 17 points for the Eagles. EKU was led by Jomaru Brown, who finished with 20 points in the game.

FGCU’s largest lead in this game was 11 points, and the Colonels wouldn’t go away in the 2nd half, as they scored 45 2nd half points. The Eagles have to keep the momentum, and keep winning games against the ASUN Conference West division. FGCU struggled last year vs Bellarmine University, and have a huge test in front of them Saturday night.

FGCU (13-8, 3-4 ASUN) remains at home to face Bellarmine University (12-9, 6-1 ASUN) Saturday night at 7 PM from Alico Arena.
