Overview:

The Eagles will be without their leading scorer Kierstan Bell (23.4 ppg) for the foreseeable future, and it’s a next teammate up approach for the #20 Eagles, as they face EKU at home. FGCU winners of their past ten games, are at hot as can be as they face an ASUN newcomer in Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels are led by Head Coach Greg Todd, who is in his 1st season at EKU. He was previously head coach for the past seven seasons at Morehead State University. EKU is led offensively by 6’2 R-SR Jayla Johnson (14.7 ppg), who will be a problem for the Eagles, with Kierstan Bell out of the lineup. The biggest question in this game is how and who will defend Jayla Johnson? We expect someone like Kerstie Phills to be up for the challenge, and she has been playing her best basketball as of late. FGCU has a huge opportunity to continue their hot play, and it’ll be interesting to see who will lead the team offensively, without Kierstan Bell.
