Overview:
What a thriller it was in game one of the West Palm Beach Invitational! FGCU survived a MSU record and West Palm Beach Invitational record 50 pts from Nia Clouden, who would not be deined in today’s game. The Eagles ran into foul trouble with Kierstan Bell having 3 fouls in the 1st Quarter, but were able to overcome the adversity, and keep the game competitive. Kierstan Bell finished with a team high 28 pts, and led the Eagles in scoring Monday morning. Three other Eagles finished in double figures including TK Morehouse (20 pts), Karli Seay (13 pts), and Kendall Spray (12 pts).
Michigan State shot a blistering 81.5% (22/27) from the free throw line, which kept them in the game with FGCU. Nia hit 15 free throws and if she was fouled, you better believe she wasn’t gonna miss from the charity stripe. FGCU continues to overcome so much in the non-conference portion of their schedule, and is the team to beat like they are every season, once the team reaches ASUN Conference play. A double overtime win against another Power 5 school and Big 10 opponent only helps the resume of this team, that looks to take off once they reach the ASUN Tournament, and NCAA Tournament.
