Overview:
FGCU struggled offensively in this game vs FIU, after a successful week the week before. The Eagles couldn’t get in a rhythm from beyond the arc, and it finally caught up to them Wednesday night. Tevin Brewer led all scorers with 24 pts, and the Eagles just couldn’t stop FIU’s best player all game. FGCU was led in scoring by Cyrus Largie, who finished with 18 pts. Tavian Dunn-Martin scored 7 pts for the Eagles after carrying the Eagles the past few games. Kevin Samuel continued his great stretch in the post grabbing 11 rebounds.
It’s time to see how this team can respond when adversity shows it’s face. The Eagles face Dartmouth University, in a game they should win, avenging a loss from the 2019-20 season where they played a really sloppy game, losing 55-49. After that they head on the road for a few games, so let’s see if they can back to the basics offensively and simplify the game like they had with the games last week in the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Invitational. The Eagles always struggle with FIU, and were in this game tonight in the first half, but were dominated in the 2nd half allowing 43 Golden Panthers points.
What’s Next:
FGCU heads home to face Dartmouth University (3-2) Saturday night at 7 PM From Alico Arena.
