Overview:
Year 4 under Head Coach Michael Fly is upon us, as the Eagles look to build off a disappointing ASUN Semifinal loss to UNA, and while this team lost some familiar faces, they have added some really great players to the mix. This looks to be a really balanced team that can defend and shoot from beyond the arc.
Caleb Catto and Cyrus Largie look to build off strong offensive seasons and are joined by sharpshooter 6’1 GR G Matt Halvorsen (12.1 ppg, Western Carolina, ’20-21) who can light it up from anywhere on the court, along with 5’8 GR G Tavian Dunn-Martin (10.2 ppg, Duquesne, ’20-21). A healthy year for SO G Luis Rolon would be massive, because he plays the game like a true point guard, and is explosive when the ball is in his hands. 6’8 JR F Carlos Rosario (12.0 ppg, McNeese State, ’20-21) and 5th year Center Kevin Samuel (8.8 ppg, TCU, ’20-21) are huge additions that join a front court that includes Dakota Rivers (6.9 ppg, ’20-21) and Zach Anderson (2.8 ppg).
There are plenty of players to watch for Tuesday night, and as another NCAA basketball season approaches us, an expanded ASUN Conference that includes ASUN Newcomers: Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State University, and Eastern Kentucky, along with a full conference slate brings us back to some normalcy this season!
Prediction:
FGCU 85 FNU 55
