Overview:

The Eagles lost their 2nd series this season to the Hatters, and all three games were super close and could have gone either way.

In Game 1, both aces were on the mound as Mason Studstill beat Nick Durgin. Mason was impeccable as he went 8 innings, striking out 8 Hatters. Alexander Figueredo drove in 3 runs and led the Eagles to victory.

In Game 2, the Hatters received a strong performance for their starter, Chris Gonzalez, who struck out 7 Eagles only allowing 1 ER, in 7.2 innings pitched. Hernen Sardinas drove in 2 Hatters and Stetson picked up the victory. The Eagles were led by Alexander Figueredo and Richie Garcia who both had RBI’s.

In the rubber match, Stetson came back from down four runs to beat the Eagles. Stetson starting pitcher Brett Nielan could not earn an out in the game, as he was shelled for 5 1st inning runs. Jovan Gill was dominant, pitching 5 innings in relief allowing no runs. Brandon Hylton and Kyle Ball, both drove in 2 runs to lead the Hatters. Ian Farrow (3 RBI’s) and Stephen Wilmer (2 RBI’s), led the Eagles in hitting Sunday afternoon.

What’s Next:

FGCU heads on the road to face the University of Miami (22-13, 14-12 ACC) Tuesday night in Coral Gables.
