Kennesaw, GA- #1 FGCU overcame a cold shooting first half to beat #4 Lipscomb University, 59-44, and advance to the ASUN Championship game Sunday afternoon vs the winner of #2 Liberty/#3 UNF.

FGCU shot 27.6% (16/58) from the field, 23.9% (11/46) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 47-39 by Lipscomb. The Eagles dished out 11 assists, had 10 steals, and 7 blocks in the game. Lipscomb had 17 team turnovers while FGCU had 14 turnovers of their own.

Outstanding Players (LU):

Dorie Harrison 13 pts, 7 reb

Taylor Clark 11 pts, 3 reb

Casey Collier 9 pts, 12 reb

Outstanding Players (FGCU):

Aaliyah Stanley 25 pts

TK Morehouse 12 pts, 8 reb

Kierstan Bell 9 pts, 13 reb

This game was a nail-biter early, as the Eagles could not buy a basket in the first quarter, but did enough overall to move onto the ASUN Championship game. Aaliyah Stanley carried the Eagles to victory, scoring 25 pts, and setting the pace for the team. TK Morehouse and Kierstan Bell combined for 21 pts and 21 rebounds in the game. Lipscomb was led by Dorie Harrison who scored 13 pts.

The Eagles are going to need to move the ball inside the paint next game regardless of who they play for the championship. The cold shooting from beyond the arc, could be an issue if they aren’t getting points in the paint, especially if Liberty beats UNF Friday night. Coach Smesko knows how to get his teams ready, so expect the Eagles to come out shooting the ball hot in the ASUN Championship game Sunday afternoon.
