Overview:

FGCU got the strong performance they needed from their ace, Mason Studstill, and the Owls were stymied all night with him on the mound. Joe Kinker was outstanding at the plate, carrying the Eagles to the upset Friday night with his five hits and 4 RBI’s. Richie Garcia and Jacob Lojewski also had RBI’s to back Mason in a nice blowout win to start the weekend series.

Saturday’s game at Swanson Stadium was cancelled due to rain, so the Eagles faced #21 FAU on the road Sunday afternoon, and they struggled to get anything going early as the Owls chased Mason Miller out of the game before he could get an out. FAU held a 13-0 lead before the Eagles offense woke up in the late innings, scoring 9 runs combined from the 6th to the 8th. Back to back home runs from Cameron Krzeminski and Kyle Machado got the FAU lead down to 4 runs, and that would be the closest the Eagles would get in this game.

What’s Next:

FGCU remains at home to face Indiana State University (6-4) on 3/9 at 7 PM.
