FGCU/JU WEEKEND RECAP

Jacksonville, FL- #27 FGCU (19-2, 12-0 ASUN) took both games this weekend, on the road vs Jacksonville University (3-14, 1-11 ASUN), and extended their winning streak to 18 games.

Game 1: FGCU 89 JU 64

Stats:

FGCU shot 55% (33/60) from the field, 47% (9/19) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded by JU 34-31. The Eagles dished out 14 assists, had 12 steals, and 3 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 19 JU team turnovers and had 11 team turnovers of their own.

Outstanding Players (FGCU):

Kierstan Bell 36 pts, 14 reb

TK Morehouse 24 pts

Outstanding Players (JU):

Makayla Edwards 16 pts

Johne Stewart 14 pts

Overview:

Kierstan and TK combined for 60 pts Saturday afternoon and shredded the Dolphins defense. It was a great team win for the Eagles, and their largest lead in the game was 31 pts. Makayla Edwards led the Dolphins with 16 pts. FGCU scored 57 points in the second half, to blowout JU. The game was only 32-21 Eagles at the half.

Game 2: FGCU 87 JU 58

Stats:

FGCU shot 48.5% (33/68) from the field, 30.4% (7/23) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded JU 43-33. The Eagles dished out 13 assists, had 11 steals, and 5 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 17 JU team turnovers and had 10 team turnovers of their own.

Overview:

The Kierstan Bell effect occurred again Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville as she lit the Dolphins up up a career high and FGCU record 42 pts. The Dolphins trailed only 34-32, at halftime in this game. The largest lead for the Eagles was 31 pts.

FGCU faces UNF (11-8, 9-3 ASUN) at home, for back to back games, starting Saturday February 27th at 2 PM.
