KSU/FGCU WEEKEND RECAP

Fort Myers, FL- #27 FGCU (17-2, 10-0 ASUN) remains in 1st place in the ASUN Conference, after winning both games this weekend vs Kennesaw State University (6-9, 1-9 ASUN), 104-60, Saturday afternoon, and 88-38, Sunday afternoon. The Eagles have won 16 games in a row!

Stats-Game 1:

FGCU shot 67.2% (43/64) from the field, 46.7% (7/15) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded by KSU 30-29. The Eagles dished out 25 assists, had 9 steals, and 3 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 15 Owls turnovers while only having 7 turnovers of their own.

Overview:

The Eagles dominant weekends continue, and while the offense is thriving, and anyone on this team can beat you, the defense came alive this weekend with FGCU combining for 29 steals in the two game set with KSU. The Eagles held KSU to 32.7% (16/49) from the field, and 0% (0/7) from beyond the arc in the 2nd game, while playing smothering defense resulting in the 20 steals. Kierstan Bell was dominant again in both games and when you combine her with TK Morehouse, it’s one unstoppable tandem.

The Eagles look primed for another deep ASUN Conference tournament run with a showdown with Liberty University in the championship game. We also believe the rest of the country will be watching Kierstan, TK, Emma, Aaliyah, and the rest of the squad breaking hearts in the NCAA Tournament resulting in a deep run. It’s a special time to be an Eagles fan and as a fan you have to tip your hat to Coach Smesko and realize how good this team really is!
