FGCU/UNA RECAP GM 2

Florence, AL- FGCU (15-2, 8-0 ASUN) won their 14th game in a row, and remain undefeated in ASUN Conference play, beating UNA (5-14, ASUN 4-6) 83-73, Sunday afternoon.

Stats:

FGCU shot 46.9% (30/64) from the field, 26.9% (7/26) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded UNA 31-30. The Eagles dished out 15 assists, had 14 steals, and 1 block in the game. FGCU forced 24 UNA turnovers while having 13 team turnover of their own.

Overview:

The key stat to victory for FGCU was the 15 assists, and 14 steals for the Eagles. Don’t forget UNA had a 12 point lead in this game but the Eagles never go away. The 24 Lions team turnovers forced by FGCU were vital and changed the scope of the game.

TK Morehouse (27 pts) and Kierstan Bell (24 pts, 11 reb) are relentless and the best tandem in the ASUN right now. Aaliyah Stanley (12 pts) and Emma List (11 pts) also finished in double figures for the Eagles, and continue to have strong years too. UNA was led by Alexis Callins who finished with 19 pts.

It’s pretty incredible to see Coach Smesko reload these FGCU teams, and it would be special to see how the talented Liberty University team would match up with FGCU, when the regular season games are re-scheduled. Either way, we will see Coach Green and the Flames (12-5, ASUN 8-2) in the regular season or in the ASUN Championship.

Outstanding Players (FGCU):
