Fort Myers, FL- FGCU (9-6, 4-4 ASUN) won a close game vs UNA (10-6, 6-4 ASUN), 69-60, Saturday night, and swept the Lions in back to back games this weekend at Alico Arena.
Stats:
FGCU shot 37.5% (21/56) from the field, 28.6% (8/28) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded by UNA 43-38. The Eagles dished out 8 assists, had 8 steals, and 6 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 14 Lions turnovers while only having 9 team turnovers overall.
Overview:
Both teams shot the ball poorly from the field and from beyond the arc UNA’s largest lead in the game was 8 points and the Lions took a 3 point lead into the half.
Jalen Warren paced the Eagles with a game high 28 pts and was the heart and soul of the Eagles offense Saturday night. Cyrus Largie (17 pts) and Eli Abaev (10 pts) also finished in double figures for FGCU. The regular season sweep of UNA has the Eagles ready for the softer part of their schedule, as they face KSU on the road, and JU at home, the next four games. UNA was led by Mervin James who scored 12 pts, and Emmanuel Littles who had a double double scoring 10 pts, and grabbing 10 rebounds. James, only played 15 minutes in the game due to foul trouble and fouled out late in the 2nd half of the game.
